Reminds me of the girl in American Beauty "There's nothing worse than being ordinary".
...Just funny how people try so hard to stand out.
But Liz, I don't think there's a mediocre bone in your body.

What do you think is the difference between ordinary and mediocrity. I always thot ordinary is your circumstances, mediocrity is a state of mind. Settling, if you will. I feel strongly. Maybe I'll dedicate more to the subject..
and thanks florecita, i'm touched to the very marrow:D

Mediocrity is self-inflicted. Genius is self-bestowed.

Yeah. Right.
Yes, mediocrity is definitly self-inflicted, but genius is not self-bestowed.
It sounded nice though.

It wasn't me who first said it. And it can be self bestowed!

I would say, since genius is usually not a gift but a burden, it would be more inflicted no?

mediocrity is something that can only be classified by those to few that dont understand the world so have to put into a glass box and ship it off to societies epicentre of misguided and often false truths. Although ordinary can be defined as: A charge or bearing of simple form, i prefer to think of it as somebody who has spent to long inside the square and can only go places once realising this.

But thats just what i think....
this reminds me however of a peice in the nsw art gallery of a line painted on a mirror that read 'no object can imply the existence of any other'.
