Cheapening Heaven

Did you hear that they nicknamed the 10th planet they found "Xena" after the unbelievably chintzy TV show?
Also discovered was it's moon, which has been dubbed Gabriella, after her faithful traveling sidekick.

I wonder what astronomers of old would say -- those who named celestial bodies after gods, the Almighties of their day -- if told that modern scientists name the stars after their favorite defecations.

Well the astronomers of old couldn't have been too noble. Look at the planet Uranis.....Which happens to be the planet that rules my sun sign(or so says my witch doctor father).

Your ignorance my friend hurts.
Uranus was the first ruler of the unverise, father of the titans (which were individually more powerful than any god), and the hundred handed monsters. His blood, upon touching earth created the furies (who personified conscience and punished crimes) and his cast off flesh gave birth to Aphrodite.

You assume that because the name sounds like Your Anus in english that it has lost all honor.
How infantile.

Infantile indeed. -but what can you say, it gets a snicker everytime, out of pretty much anybody.

So if you saw Uranus would you be awestruck by its power and majesty? would you fall on your face and worship?

A more fitting name would have been Hercules and whatever his sidekick is.
